Hi, I have Samba (samba-2.2.1a) set up and working on RedHat 7.1 on a server. My only goal at present is to have access to the server's disks from my (WinNT SP6) desktop. My home directory is fine. I can read, edit, create and delete files from my Windows NT pc, and there's no problem. My own files have ownser::group username::username in the usual RedHat style. The website files have ownership nobody::nobody as commonly recommended. I can see the fles and open the files from the PC, but I can't edit and save the files, or create new files. I *am* a member of the nobody group, and can edit, create etc... these files quite happily when logged in to the server as me. I *can* fix this by taking ownership of the files on the server, by changing their ownership to username::username. When I do this all is well. I can then edit away to my hearts content. I don't *want* to do this for other reasons. Any suggestions??
