Samba (LMB) doesn't send "BecomeBackup" requests to potential browsers
Hello, I have a Workgroup with >300 machines (mostly W9x and NT 4.0) on a single subnet. I have a samba server 2.2.1a, acting just as the DMB and LMB for the workgroup. It's smb.conf is just as simple as that: [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP wins support = yes domain master = yes local master = yes preferred master = yes os level = 65 encrypt passwords = yes Everything is ok, except for there are no backup browsers on the network, because when a client does a GetBackupList request to its Local Master Browser to get the list of browse servers, samba only returns its own name; thus it's being overwhelmed with the subsequent NetServerEnum2 requests. I think the problem could be that samba LMB isn't sending BecomeBackup datagrams to the selected potential browsers to become backup browser and serve browse lists to the clients. I've checked the "browse.dat" file, and in the "ServerType" field I only can see potential browsers but no backup browsers. How could I solve this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
