Hi, I have a big problem with my HP Deskjet 990C Printer: The Windows 2000 drivers from HP just don't work for this printer on my Linux box. I can use other drivers included on the Windows CD-ROM - they all work perfectly well. But when I use the HP Drivers and want to access the properties for the printer I only get following message: "Function address 0x70f26a3 caused a protection fault. (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed." Has anyone successfully installed the HP Deskjet 990C Drivers for Windows 2000 for a printer connected via Samba? Thank you, Oliver
I had this problem with HP printers on Wintel 9x systems. This is what I think you have to do: Install the printer as if you have connected it to LPT1, of cource don't print a test page. After the local is install just point the printer to \\sambaserver\printername instead of lpt1. That should do the trick. I have the same problem with an HP DeskJet 930C. My solution, far from the best one, was to use the 500C or 550C driver. It is printing, at least. cheers Gustavo> -----Original Message----- > From: Oliver Konz [mailto:Oliver.Konz@gmx.de] > Sent: sexta-feira, 21 de setembro de 2001 12:30 > To: samba@lists.samba.org > Subject: Deskjet 990C Printer > > > Hi, > I have a big problem with my HP Deskjet 990C Printer: The > Windows 2000 > drivers from HP just don't work for this printer on my Linux > box. Thanks for your help! But this solution works only for Windows 9X. On a Win2000 system you get a list of all available ports and can then choose one. There is no field in which you could enter the network path of the printer.
