What's it good for (for a fileserver that just serves files) if I uncomment this option and write there the name of the domain controller? I don't find it documented in man smb.conf Thank you -- Systems and Network Administrator - Delta Romania Phone +4093-267961
This option is (in combination with others) to allow Samba to perform as a domain controller itself (domain controller = yes or no). Unless you have some need for samba to perform domain logons for win9X computers (Version 2.0.x) or winNT/Win2k computers (Samba2.2.x), you should leave this default, which is NO. Hope this helps, Don -----Original Message----- From: Silviu Marin-Caea [mailto:silviu@delrom.ro] Sent: Friday, September 14, 2001 7:17 AM To: samba@lists.samba.org Subject: domain controller What's it good for (for a fileserver that just serves files) if I uncomment this option and write there the name of the domain controller? Sorry Silviu, you're right - I typed better than I read. Hold on, let me find out. Ok, Silviu; I feel kinda stupid here - where are you comming up with "domain controller=" as a valid smb.conf parameter? What version of Samba are you working with? I can't find any reference to this parameter in the current Samba 2.2 or 2.0.7,8,9.10 code....
