WindowsNT Explorer Copy Removes x Attribute from Unix Source File s
We ran across a strange problem that I'm hoping someone may have already solved. When we use Windows Explorer to copy a file from a Unix directory to a Windows directory or another Unix directory, some of the source files have their user execute bits removed. I haven't been able to see a pattern as to which source files are changed, and it doesn't always seem to be consistent. It also seems to sometimes vary according to how many files are selected and copied at once or even in what order. Whatever the reason, source files should never be modified when doing a copy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are running WindowsNT 4.0 (Build 1381, Service Pack 6A) on Compaq Intel 550MHz PCs and Sun Solaris 2.6 on a Sun Enterprise 450 server with 4GB RAM and quad CPUs running Samba 2.0.3.
