I'm having a problem with folders shared from Samba 2.0.5a dissappearing and reappearing on a Mac running Dave 2.5. I had the same problem with Dave 2.1 and hoped the upgrade to 2.5 would help. The 2 Samba servers are on a separate subnet on which they are the only machines. One Samba server is set as the local master browser and both use an NT server on the same subnet as the Mac as their wins server. I have the Samba 'remote announce' option set to broadcast to the Mac/NT subnet as well as announcing directly to the Mac and the wins server (I've tried every possible combination here). I've also tried a number of socket option settings, none of which made any noticable difference. Currently the only socket option is TCP_NODELAY. I used a Samba server on the same subnet as the Mac for about a year with no problems, so I'm reasonably sure the problem has something to do with the current Samba servers being on a remote subnet. I have no problem maintaining stable connections from any windows machines to the Samba servers or from the Mac to an NT server. When I ping the Samba servers from the Mac I get 0 packet loss. Here's a simple diagram of the network: Samba Samba NT wins server \ / \ \ / \ router--------------------router-----multiple Winxx desktops / / Mac The Samba servers are SGIs running IRIX 6.5.5.
