Hello - hope somebody can point me in the right direction here. We use a SCO 5.0.4 box and samba 2.02, and when I try to get the passwd sync feature working, this is what my log file says:- (the user name is tnichols)- [1999/07/09 12:32:17, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:chgpasswd(387) Password change for user: tnichols [1999/07/09 12:32:17, 10] smbd/chgpasswd.c:findpty(78) findpty: Allocated slave pty /dev/pts000 [1999/07/09 12:32:17, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:chat_with_program(362) Dochild for user tnichols (uid=0,gid=0) [1999/07/09 12:32:17, 10] smbd/chgpasswd.c:dochild(190) Invoking '/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5.0.4Eb/bin/passwd tnichols' as password change program. [1999/07/09 12:32:18, 100] smbd/chgpasswd.c:talktochild(264) talktochild: chatbuf=[*1):*] responsebuf=[Setting password for user: tnichols Password request denied. Reason: your identity is not known. ] [1999/07/09 12:32:18, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:talktochild(267) response 1 incorrect [1999/07/09 12:32:18, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:chat_with_program(317) Child failed to change password: tnichols [1999/07/09 12:32:18, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:chat_with_program(344) The status of the process exiting was 256 ... I am uncertain what to make of "your identity is not known.", I thought passwd was involked by root. Any ideas, anybody? Please?
