Problem : same mangled name for different files
Hello samba-list-readers, I have 2 files with long filenames on a samba-server (V2.04b). The filenames are xxxxx_APB.h and xxxxx_SEL.h For some reason the first part of the name has to be xxxxx_ In the file-property-sheet of windows-explorer the MS-DOS-name of BOTH files is XXXXX_~5X.H. That means to me, that the hash-algorithm, which generates the MS-DOS-name is to weak and produced a name-conflict. 16-bit applications like DOS-edit and also a 'Send-To -> notepad.exe' have a problem and read the wrong file (do a 'Send-To -> notepad.exe' in explorer for both files and you always get the same file). If I set 'mangled names = no' in smb.conf, then 'Send-To' is ok, but then there are no short MS-DOS-names for true DOS-applications. Are there other smb.conf-parameters to enhance the hash-algorithm to avoid the name-clash ? A true Windows-NT-server doesn't have this problem.
