Hello samba-users, I have a problem with mangled-name-collision : I have 2 files with long filenames on a samba-server (V2.07, solaris). The filenames are xxxxx_APB.h and xxxxx_SEL.h For some reason the first part of the name has to be xxxxx_ The mangle name of both files is XXXXX_~5X.H (look at the fileproperties in explorer) That means to me, that the hash-algorithm, which generates the MS-DOS-name is too weak and produced a name-collision. That happens not so rarely as the samba-docu says. In our environment it happens every few weeks. We develop large software-projects and the names of many *.h-files sound similar. Occasionaly we have to use old 16-bit-applications and then we have trouble with these files. Are there other smb.conf-parameters to enhance the hash-algorithm to avoid the name-collision ? Or can someone PLEASE rewrite the mangling-functions (I think in smbd/mangle.c) so that the samba-mangling-behaviour is the same as in a real NT-server ? (I'm only a sysadmin and dont want to modify the sources) A true Windows-NT-server doesn't have this problem. I posted this problem a few month ago to the samba-list, but never get an answer.
