HI 2 ALL, I am a 22 year old student from Holland. I'm trying to implement a HP3000 to a LAN(Windows 4 Workgroups 3.11). I Have 3 questions for the experts: - Can anyone tell me how I can name my HP3000 machine 'BIGSERVER' (when I try to PING BIGSERVER, ping does'nt recognize it) - When I try to start SMBD, I receive the following message: SAMBA: PROPER TZ RECOMMENDED - Is it neccessary to compile the c source to binary on a HP3000. When i try to MAKE the binaries the compiler tells me I need the file CCOMXL (can anyone provide me this file ?) Thank you very much, Bye, Tony ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Have RH7.1 and am trying to install Samba 2.2.2. After much trouble with conflicting files, I finally got it to install. However, when I try to run it, I receive the following error message: auth: command not found auth: command not found account: command not found session: command not found password: command not found I found the samba script in /etc/pam.d, not in /etc/samba where I'd expect it. Also, it sure seems strange that everything in the pam.d directory is: -rw-r--r-- (what's up with that?). Obviously, I chmod'ed samba and that's when I had the problems I listed above. RH6.2 was so easy; just rpm -i <samba>, configure smb.conf, then samba start. Why does RH7.1 have to be so difficult? I would sure appreciate any words of wisdom... Jerry p.s. please pardon my duplicate posting of this message in another list. I'm not familiar with how lists work nor what etiquette to employ.

Can you tell me whats gone wrong and how to fix it? Many thanks Ash
