Hi all, When I configure the SAMBA server with password server = PDCNAME security = server I cannot access my shares if I don't have my user ID on the HP-UX box. When I look at the log file, it was trying to connect me to the SAMBA server as "guest" but not as my user ID. It will ask me for the user name and password. When I type in the user name and password it will tell me that " This user is not authorized to connect from this machine". This happens even if I don't have SP 3 on my NT workstation. I also do not have hosts allow and deny configured. It happens also on my Win 95 machine. If I have my user name in my /etc/passwd file it will let me connect with a correct username. Is my SAMBA server really checking my access against my NT domain controller? I really need to have the ability to log in without having to create user names on my SAMBA server. Is it a must that I have to use the PAM routine? And if so can somebody give me some directions how to use it? Or is there another way to do it? The server is running HP-UX 10.20. Thanks in advance Than M Maung
