Hello Samba Gurus, I am running FreeBSD 2.2.6-STABLE and Samba 1.9.18p8. I am unsucessful in logging into the server (from Windows or UNIX using smbclient). I turned the logging to level 10. This is adding up quickly. This means that the default lp print command is doing something strange. When you say "printing sysv" this just sets the default "print command" string to "lp -c -d%p %s; rm %s". Take a look at "man smb.conf" and search for the "print command" entry. You may have to send some options to the print command to suppress the blank page. Also you can print to a file located on a share from within the M$ environment then back in the Unix world experiment with the lp options until you stop getting a printjob sandwich on white. :-) Brett ______________________________________________________________________ ( S E L E C T A P P R O A C H ( Brett Worth - Midrange Systems ( ) 25 Darling St, Mitchell 2911 )Ph: +61 2 6241 5633 Fx: 6241 3733 ) (________________________________(____________________________________(
Hi samba users, I've finally got password changing from Win95 (with unix sync) working :-) (nice one Jeremy). The only snag now is that I can't set a password less than 5 characters from the control panel -> passwords dialogue. If I use smbpasswd (with no unix sync) or passwd from a telnet session, I can set a password as short as 1 character no problem. But if I use smbpasswd with unix sync, it needs to be 5 or more. I've changed the entry in login.defs for minimum password length = 3 but can't figure this one out. I am using Slackware 3.5 with Samba 1.9.18p8. Any clues would be appreciated. Over the last couple of days I see quite often this error-message: request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid 11707 on port 38984 for dev = 1540000, inode = cf4bb When this happens, the connection for this pid blocks completely. By the way I am using v1.9.18 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Andries Algera CSR - IBAMA SAIN L4, Lote 4, Ed.
