Hi, I have installed and configured Samba version 1.9.17p2 on a server Solaris (sputnik). When I want to connect a share available on Samba server from my Server NT 4.0 SR3, the next message appears: "Incorrect password or unknown username for \\sputnik\domsai (where domsai is a [home] share) Connect as: Passord:" I profided it a username (domsai) and a valid password on UNIX and a new message appears: "This account is not authirized to login from this station" This is the configuration of smb.conf: [global] auto services = homes printers dead time = 15 domain master = yes guest account = nobody load printers = yes log file = /var/adm/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 1000 null passwords = no password level = 3 preferred master = yes printcap name = /opt/SISKsamba/etc/printcap printing = sysv read raw = yes read size = 8192 security = user status = yes workgroup = SISCA-NT write raw = yes case sensitive = no default case = lower hide dot files = yes mangle case = no mangled names = yes preserve case = yes short preserve case = yes [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no create mode = 0750 printable = no public = no writable = yes valid users = %S [printers] comment = All Printers browseable = no create mode = 0700 path = /tmp printable = yes public = yes writable = no [Public] comment = Repertoire public path = /export/home/public browseable = yes create mask = 0775 directory mask = 0775 printable = no public = yes writable = yes Service [Public] is not usable also. If your samba server doesn't do encrypted passwords you will need to install the registry entry in the file NT4_PlainPassword.reg included in the docs directory of the samba distribution. -- Steve Fosdick Internet: fosdicsj@aom.bt.co.uk Voice: +44 1473 642987 MSMAIL: BTEA/BTLIP23/FOSDICSJ Fax: +44 1473 646656 BOAT: FOSDICSJ Snail: B29/G34, BT Labs, Martlesham Heath, Ipswich, IP5 7RE, England.
