Have just upgraded to samba 1.9.18p3 on a RedHat 5.0 linux system... now... when i type smbstatus... this is what i get.. Couldn't open status file /var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK so i assume that for some reason... this status file is not created upon startup.. Pat.
What does this mean? root@www:/package/samba-2.2.4/source# smbstatus INFO: Debug class all level = 2 (pid 3280 from pid 3280) connections.tdb not initialised root@www:/package/samba-2.2.4/source# THX Davide Parise E-Mail: d.parise@agora.it Cel.: +39 3333063640 FAX: +39 06233241981
Hello all, I have 2.2.4 running on Solaris with winbind. When i do a smbstatus it shows the uid as root where as the actual users are some domain users which is properly displayed in it. But logon services properly work for the domain user. Please let me what's wrong. Thanks for your time

I believe that I have got the section of Using Samba, section 2.5.1 Starting the
Daemons by Hand down. It appears that I am going to have to find a way to start
memorizing all of the paths administrators typically visit. I am also gaining a
comfort level with VI, but it still drives me nuts.
I am having trouble when I try the smbstatus utility. I am struggling with the
following error:
[root@cofr3 /etc]# ssmmbbssttaattuuss
connections.tdb not initialised
There is no specific man entry for connections.tdb, and I have not found it
anywhere else I have looked. Perhaps you have some insight. Thanks in advance
for your time.

We successfully installed SAMBA 2.2.8a and it works fine. The only problem I have is that smbstatus doesn't work because connections.tdb has never been initialized. (/slh/samba/bin) numa$ smbstatus -d -s /slh/samba/lib/smb.conf using configfile = /slh/samba/lib/smb.conf /usr/local/samba/var/locks/connections.tdb not initialized. This is normal if an SMB client has never connected to your server.
The samba installation has been running (on dg/ux) OK for over a month. We have many Windows clients but still no connections.tdb file. -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Novosielski [mailto:novosirj@umdnj.edu] Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2003 12:37 PM To: Bakken, Gunnar Cc: 'samba@lists.samba.org' Subject: Re: [Samba] smbstatus Gotta connect once first, then that command will show some entries.
