NMBD Not Starting
I moved an entire RH 6.2 server from one CPU to a new one using a tape backup/restore. Everything from the old server is working on the new server, but when SysV starts up smb, the nmbd daemon (2.0.6) exits with an error: create_subnets: No local interfaces! eth0 has already started according to the logs and console. Any ideas? Thanks. ______________________ Greg Kelley, IT Director SSA, EAA,

RPM
Hi All, Is there any sign of a Samba 2.2.2 RPM for Red Hat 7.0 in our future? If not, there is a possibility that I could create one at one of my RH 7.0 customer site. All I would need is instructions on how to upload it to you. Many thanks, --Tony aewell@gbis.com -- ------------------------- I Fish. Therefore, I am. -------------------------

Wierdness using Samba PDC with WinXP-Pro and Win2K-Pro clients
Hi All- Please tell me if I'm posting to the wrong list. I looked for the list called samba-ntdom (listed at http://us1.samba.org/samba/archives.html) because it seemed a more appropriate forum, but it looks like that list has been dissolved. Has the discussion for that list moved to some other list? Anyway, here's the problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with: I have

Problems using WinXP-Pro client and Samba PDC
Hi All- Some time ago (24 September 2002), I wrote the list about this problem with using a WinXP Pro client with a Samba PDC (see below for details). In response, Kenneth Illingsworth (if I understood him correctly) suggested that the error message given by the Win XP client just might be accurate (ie. that when the client complains of "Insufficient Memory" and then crashes immediately, it might indeed be a problem with insufficient memory), and also suggested that...

Samba configuration
I'm trying to config a Linux box to integrate into a windows network using pam_smb and samba. Ive set it up so that using pam_smb I can get the user to log onto the linux desktop with their NT id and password. The only problem is once the user is logged on they need to be able to access shared resources disk, printers etc... without the need to reauthenticate to the domain, i.e. use a cache

Add Win2kPro Workstation to new Linux PDC
I created a new virtual Linux server running the Red Hat v7.2 distribution. After getting a MySQL/PHP application running, the next step was to add a Win2kPro Workstation to a new Linux PDC. Towards that end I modified the smb.conf file as described below to turn the virtual Linux server into a stand alone PDC. A 'MACHINE.SID' was created in the /usr/local/samba/private directory.

Trouble pinging servers DNS name.
I can ping the virtual Linux servers NetBIOS name and access a share. Perhaps someone can examine the attached named.conf file for errors and/or omissions. My virtual Linux server (172.17.60.6) has been configured as a WINS server, and a PDC. I am not, however, certain how to configure it as a DNS server beyond what is in the attached named.conf file. Here are the results of pinging the
