Hi all. I found the 'remote announce' option for smb.conf, but I'm not sure this is what I want to use. I think my circumstances are quite odd. I currently have 1.9.18 running on a sparc, serving my PC, on the same network, at work. My Linux box at home I use to dial into my machine. So the PPP interface has the same netwokr as the boxes at work. My Linux box also has 10mbs ethernet, where there are quite a few PCs running 95 and Linux on the same network, which is a 192.168.1.0/24. I'd like to get to my sparc at work from the windows machines here at home. I've currently set up samba on my Linux box, and used smbmount to mount my home directory on my sparc, which works fine. Thanks for any ideas, Dave Wreski
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 All, If I wanted to set-up a workgroup for each department in our office SALES, SOFTWARE, ENGINEERING etc) under one domain (CITEL) and I only had one RH5.0 Samba server how would I go about doing this? Could I use the include function to have a machine call a different workgroup like the following: - --smb.conf-- include = /etc/smb.conf.%L - --smb.conf.sales-- workgroup = sales server string = Sales Server - --smb.conf.software-- workgroup = software server string = Software Server or is there some other way around this? I only have one server to do this on. Another idea that has been mentioned is that I can set up a workstation in each department to act as the workgroup controller. Is this possible? Any help would be most appreciated Thanks Matthew Bunce IT Systems CITEL Technologies Ltd. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 5.5.3i for non-commercial use <http://www.pgpi.com> iQA/AwUBNoan7kXnp7mctD85EQK/lACgr3buhUYU/JiQkKgJMXbDCh31vUwAni5G dvhvE008wVrEsAavUk4CsCMO =uuUH -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Hi, we're trying to get a server to appear in multiple domains under multiple netbios alises. we are trying to do this by using the include = blah/conf.%L line, however, the workgroup we set in the included conf file doesn't seem to override one in smb.conf ( which... if undefined seems to force the machine to appear in WORKGROUP ) has anyone any ideas on this?? Hi all, Is there a way to serve two workgroups on a RH server box with samba 2.2.3a with two physical interfaces? And I wish to have at least one share for common use - it will be an MS Access database. Any comments? -- Best regards, Igor
