This is not SAMBA directly related at present. Having trouble getting NT4.0 server to create domain from fresh install. Plan on using Linux/Samba box as backup controller -- any hints (will also do e-mail). TIA Dave
Dear Anyone, How do you setup Samba to be a SECONDARY domain controller? I do know that there are ways to set it up to be the primary; but, we are using an NT box as a primary and the network administrator for our domain does not want to make the NT box as a secondary. I just get tired of trying to browse the network as someone is rebooting the server. Thanks, James Kosin
Hi james, You CAN'T setup samba to be a BACKUP (secondary) Domain Controller. Maybe someday... The best you can do right now is to set up samba in security = domain, and join the NT domain as a MEMBER server. I set up this variable in the smb.conf file and when I run the testparm it says: Unknown parameter encountered: "domain controller" Ignoring unknown parameter "domain controller" I'm running version 2.0.6 on Solaris 8, that came with the free download version. In the smb.conf file, it states that this is a variable to set, so why do I get this message?
