TFTP Secondary Ports
I'm publishing tftp through my firewall to support external Cisco 7960 sip phones. I know that the primary port is 69 for tftp. However, tftp also uses secondary ports ranging from 1,0XX to 30,XXX. ( A broad range) In an effort to limit the secondary ports that are opened, some Windows based tftp server such as the winagents product allows you to limit the range of secondary ports that are used allowing you to somewhat tighten firewall publishing rules....

Secondary DC as fileserver within VirtualBox
Hi, I setup a secondary DC to server as a fileserver for testing purposes. The DC (DCBACKUP) in question runs on top of a Fedora 21 x64 with VirtualBox. The DC OS also runs Fedora 21 x64. The smb.conf follows: [global] workgroup = BPDNET realm = ad.blackpenguin.org netbios name = DCBACKUP server role = active directo...

Sending traffic through Secondary IP Address
I have set up a secondary IP address in the same network as my primary. So eth0: 192.168.100.29 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth0:0 192.168.100.45 netmask 255.255.255.0 And indeed when I invoke an apache instance that listens on the secondary IP address/interface it works, and it also makes it outside the LAN since the de...

Samba4 Secondary DC as Backup DC (redundancy)
Hi, I've sucessfull created a secondary DC using the wiki manual ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC), and is working perfectly, user and groups are synced on both and I can use any of them for login using clients like Owncloud, Prosody, python scripts... The billing irregularities happen on the Secondary PBX. When a call is maked from the Secondary and it is routed across the trunks, call disposition always registeres 'AWNSERED', unless the Pr...

Secondary disk unattached if guest unresponsive and killed with 'virsh destroy'
I have a very strange issue that has plagued our KVM-based hypervisor infrastructure. Environment: - All EL7-based libvirt releases since EL7.0 - Fully patched EL7-based KVM guest on a fully patched EL7-based KVM host. - Secondary disk attached via 'virsh attach-device guest /vm/guest-with-secondary-disk-01/disk2.xml --persistent' (note --persistent flag here) Problem Description: - Guest becomes unresponsive/hangs due to issue on guest. Typically the scenario is that PID1 hangs or goes into a bad state due to a mis...

Two Instances of Apache; Primary IP / Secondary IP
...server (apache 2.x) that sends requests onto another back-end apache server, and of course the proxy server serves up pages sent by the back-end. All that works fine. However, in my development environment, I thought that I'd set up a separate instance of apache on the same server, and add a secondary IP address on the same interface. The proxy apache instance listens on the secondary IP, and the back-end instance listens on the primary IP. When I send a client request to the proxy, I get a blank page. When I check the logs, the back-end shows requests coming from the primary IP, and not the...

Secondary groups from ldap
Hello, I'm trying to configure my user_attrs using LDAP as the userdb so that dovecot knows what secondary groups a user is a member of. The LDAP backend is an Open Directory implementation, which stores secondary group affiliations as memberUid attributes in cn=groupname,cn=groups,dc=dns,dc=name,dc=server. With ldapsearch, my query would be: ldapsearch -x -b cn=groups,dc=dns,dc=name,dc=server &...

3.0.2rc1, LDAP, Solaris 9 and secondary group problem - Bug 395?
Hi, we have tested Samba 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 with LDAP-Support (--with-ldap) on Solaris 8 and it worked fine. The machine authenticates against an OpenLDAP server. Patch 108993-23 is applied and we use native Sun LDAP client modules. On Solaris 9 we ran into problems with secondary groups. Users cannot access files if the rights are based on a secondary group and if this information is stored on the LDAP server. Note that everything is ok with information from /etc/group and Unix authentication is working (login, id, groups, getent, ...). We are using the Sun LDAP client, Pa...

Samba4 DC with Secondary Questions
...replace our aging samba 3 setup. We have found many answers on the net, in various documentation, but when it comes to setting up beyond one node documentation becomes a little thinner. We are setting up a Primary DC with AD, using BIND9_DLZ, also serving dhcp from Primary, and we want to setup a Secondary that is both a DNS(bind9_dlz) slave, a kerberos slave, and AD secondary. Our Secondary will be our file serve, and perhaps a third "member" as our cups server. We run no Windows in house, except on the desktop, hence the desire for a domain. We have been using samba 3 with openldap for s...
