Site5 gives great support, very fast responses, and they include a lot in their account. But the server is slow and the ftp is painfully slow, often just stops. No matter what client I use, and OS, but the terminal is a bit better. They have the server in the US and I''m in Sweden. Eleven2, have less great support, though ok. They also include a lot. The ftp speed is blazingly fast. The server is in London. I rather have a fast server than blazingly fast support. Any reflections? Is the poor ftp speed due to distance? Or can it be a nervous Firewall? Or something. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Re: Reflections on Site5 and Eleven2 for Rails
I am in Norway, and I have a few servers with Slicehost and Dreamhost, all located in USA, and I can''t complain about speed. I am able to fully utilize my ADSL upload and download from my servers, and I have 4000 bits ADSL, no slouch. I would always go with speedy servers vs speedy service. Servers don''t break that often. We made a test with the Firewall letting me pass through and that was better. Still a bit slow and sometimes pausing. But no time out error this time. From this I suspect two things; the Firewall and a busy server. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

I obviously have a bone to pick with Site5. After purchasing a year contract they continued to ignore my questions in trying to deploy an RonR application. Finally, THEY FIRED ME and kept a good portion of my upfront money and closed my account. Thank God I found BlueBox Group and life is good again! If you just could help me get going first :-) Your server wont work as one might suspect and the support is sporadic. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

On 27 Oct 2009, at 08:31, Pål Bergström wrote:> Any other suggestions of hosts that have speed in both bandwidth and > support? After a few horrific experiences with shared hosting for Rails deployment (back when we started, there were no proper options), we moved to a VPS and eventually a couple of dedicated servers at Rimuhosting. We couldn''t have been happier to be honest, they are what we expect from a hosting partner and even more. They have several datacenters all over the world to choose from, and their support response time is great. I will gladly recommend them to anyone, anyday.
