Gucci, the world''s leading high-fashion retailer, is seeking a developer to assist in the development and maintenance of its e-commerce web site, http://www.gucci.com/ Responsibilities will include day-to-day maintenance of the web site, and the development of new features for it and for its content management system. The site uses highly sophisticated javascript, so experience with HTML, CSS, and javascript are required. However, this job is primarily a back-end developer, so substantial programming experience is a must. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of web experience and a deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Understanding of Microsoft ASP(classic), MS SQL Server, and Windows are required. The CMS is implemented in Ruby on Rails, so the ideal candidate will have RoR experience. However, someone with significant experience developing in Java or another high-level OO language who desires to learn RoR will be considered. The Worldwide E-Business Creative Technologist will report to the Director of Technology for eBusiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web development and a critical eye for creative. We are looking for self-starters who can work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Experience in ecommerce and fashion retail is a plus. Foreign language skills are also highly desirable. The job location is in NYC.
