It seems really easy to run Rails on the Java Web Server : http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/webserver/reference/techart/rubyonrails.html The performance benchmarks look amazing: http://www.sun.com/software/products/web_srvr/benchmarks.xml Does anyone know how quick it is when running ROR apps? If its stable and robust then I could see it being the thing to use for production. Has anyone had any success with it? What do you think? Re: Running Ruby on Rails on Sun Java System Web Server 7.0
I don''t know a ton about that system, and I don''t have time to read through the details, but they''re discussing, I believe, it''s performance on Java applications. The RoR page discusses installing with FCGI, which is a no-go-zone from my perspective. Why voluntarily submit yourself to torture when mongrel is available thanks to Zed''s hard work? One thing I will absolutely lay-down-in-front-of-a-train if I''m wrong about is this: Using that web server will not make your Rails applications 8-24x as fast as hosting them under Apache+Mongrel or Nginx+Mongrel. -- -- Tom Mornini, CTO -- Engine Yard, Ruby on Rails Hosting -- Reliability, Ease of Use, Scalability -- (866) 518-YARD (9273) On Feb 1, 2007, at 1:43 AM, Chris wrote:> It seems really easy to run Rails on the Java Web Server : > > http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/webserver/reference/techart/ > rubyonrails.html > > The performance benchmarks look amazing: > > http://www.sun.com/software/products/web_srvr/benchmarks.xml > > > Does anyone know how quick it is when running ROR apps?
