Hi I''ve just installed SUSE linux, downloaded RADRAILS, and extracted it to /home/myname/bin/radrails. When i try to run it i get the red radrails logo and then it gives me an error and stops loading. Its my first day using Linux, previously i have used windows, so any help is greately appreciated. Here is the log file with the errors in it : chrisr@s213:~> cat /home/chrisr/bin/radrails/configuration/1149175331973.log !SESSION 2006-06-01 16:22:11.639 ----------------------------------------------- eclipse.buildId=unknown java.version=1.4.2_06 java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc. your best bet is to install Eclipse through your distributions packageing system (eg apt-get/yum/pacman/emerge) and then install the radrails module from inside eclipse''s extension/upgrade manager thingamo.. the url you need to add to the list is on the frontpage of the radrails site and check out rails.el fmr emacs... -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
Surely one of you hardcore linux peeps can solve this easy problem? If this were a windows problem i''m sure i''d have a quick answer to it. Its a big pity. I''d really like to use Linux, but there are so many obstacles. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

[Rails] Re: RAD RAILS Problem. Wont start! Linux nubee
My radrails won''t start either on Ubuntu Dapper, but using EasyEclipse (http://www.easyeclipse.org) instead worked a treat. They have prepackaged Eclipse distributions for various purposes that you can just unzip and run right away. Pick the ruby/rails distribution, then once it''s running all you need to get into Radrails is choose the ''rails'' perspective from the menu. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

[Rails] Re: RAD RAILS Problem. Wont start! Linux nubee
I know this won''t help you solve your problem, but I just wanted to let you know that I installed Suse 10.1 and had no problem running RadRails just by downloading and unpacking it. I followed the same basic steps you described. Perhaps you are missing some sort of dependency? Hope you get it working. Development has been much smoother working under Linux than Windows. I was having problems with RadRails0.6.3 on FedoraCore5. Followed the steps here without success. I''m now using Easy-Ecilpse. Development it much smoother on Linux now. Though I still deploy on a Windows box, at least for now.
