Rails - Oct 2005 - Sub actions

I''m new to rails so excuse me if this is a common question. I noticed
on
some rails sites form actions that look something like:
/page/180091/items/update/1310431

How is this done? I have this case often, where I need to load an account
say, and then operate on a particular item associated with that account.
