I''m looking for the best way to distribute a rails application that uses webrick. I''ve tried using tar2rubyscript, but unfortunately it doesn''t seem to work on freebsd. It tries to access /dev/sa0 and throws an exception. For all I know there could be more issues also. My thought right now is to have a quick guide on installing ruby and rails, and package an installation script in my distribution that can configure database.yml. Along with a simple script to start and stop webrick. My assumption is that the end user will have the ability to install ruby and rails, but probably has never used either of them before. Any comments? _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails
Is there anything here that might help your tar2rubyscript issues? http://www.erikveen.dds.nl/distributingrubyapplications/rails.html On 10/25/05, snacktime <snacktime-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > I''m looking for the best way to distribute a rails application that uses > webrick. I might take a look at the source later. It looks like it assumes unix = linux, and tries to use linux specific naming conventions for devices when it detects a unix like OS. Just a guess, but not sure how else it could be looking for /dev/sa0.
