Re: RubyConf video, audio, streams and recordings?
I am cross posting this to the rails list as well. I have this server till the end of the year and it has a very light load on it right now. My account has unlimited bandwidth every month on a fat 100Mbit pipe and I have plenty of HD space left. So come on! Lets use my bandwidth for something good. I will create an ftp account for anyone who wants to upload media from RubyConf and i will take the responsibility of creating and maintaining a web page for people to download the media from. Anyone going to RubyConf that would be kind enough to record some video or audio please contact me on or off list and I will set up the necessary ftp accounts and whatnot. I have learned so much from everyone here that its only fair I donate a little something back. Maybe I will just install Typo and make a post about each media file as they come in with attribution and description. I hope we can get some kind souls to take pitty on all of us rubyists who can''t afford to make it to San Diego Thoughts? Re: [Rails] Re: RubyConf video, audio, streams and recordings?
I volunteered, but I haven''t heard back. Maybe someone had a more competent-sounding offer. Heh. Heh.I that if this is going to happen, someone needs to step up and offer to *lead* the effort. That means someone who can accept volunteers oike Wilson and coordinate (i.e., tell people what to do). Sorry, but it can''t be me... I just wanted to point out the obvious. So, anyone want to take on the task of coordinating this? Heh.Oh I''m sorry. I don''t seem to have gotten your mail! Anyway, as Jim Freeze said, I think we''re all set to record and publish audio of the conference. -- Chad Fowler http://chadfowler.com http://rubycentral.org http://rubygarden.org http://rubygems.rubyforge.org (over one million gems served!) _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails

Re: Re: RubyConf video, audio, streams and recordings?
Cool. My offer was basically that I can bring my laptop and USBPre (http://www.usbpre.com/) which has XLR and various other connectors, in case there''s a sound board we can plug directly into. Chad said he is going to get the specs of the recorder for us on Monday. I also asked about the ''straight to mp3'' recording. We''ll probably just need to make sure we have sufficient adaptors that if we need we can record straight to the computer in .wav format and then convert to mp3.
