Is there a D.C. area Ruby User Group? Thanks, Robi _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails
Not that I''m aware of, but there does seem to be a fair amount of interest. Maybe we can get one started. My understanding is that the effort to get a group going sorta died at the time. I got interested in Ruby just after that, and I think there might be more interest this time around, especially if we can get a location to meet. again ;) there was a thread on this month or more back that swiftly faded into the background. guess its what happen when you have 20 people that want to meet but no one taking any ''real'' initiative to say "this is where were meeting on this day." (no im not pointing fingers and no this is no ones fault) personally id love to visit dc/nova meetings, i live in frederick md, work in vienna so the columbia md drive is just way out of my way. if anyone knows a good place to meet and we can arrange times (maybe someone can sacrafice a wiki page for us to discuss meetings, etc.) i think there is a pretty big crowd around the area. Hi all, I''ve spoken with a couple of you off-list, and it seems like there''s a lot of interest in (re-)forming a ruby group in DC, and there might just be one or two with you with a meeting spot we could use. I''ve set up a Backpack page < http://jacobpatton.backpackit.com/pub/263801 > for us to coordinate things, and I''ve invited several of you who''ve taken part in the discussion so far to edit the page. If you''re on the main Rails list and would like to take part in the discussion, email me and I''ll give you access to the page. List, I just talked to a firend of mine who says he can host a group meeting at his place which is more or less in Dupont Circle. They have excellent facilites, essentially training rooms so there would be all the AV as well as network connections etc. With this in mind would people like to get together for a informal meeting about how to strucutre a user group, decide on meeting times, schedule, and all that other good stuff next week? If so what would be a good day and time? I think the times that are going to be easiest to get space will be after 5pm tuesday to thursday but I think we could get space at diffrent times of the day as well as possibly weekends. I think the best times would be Saturday mornings. Meetings would have space to extend if we wanted to collaborate on a project. But not the first Saturday because it would compete with the very good meetings at novalug. Other times to avoid include third Wednesday evenings b/c that conflicts with dclug. I attend these meetings. I am unaware of other important meetings but we would probably not want to conflict with the perlmongers meetings or any local smalltalk or lisp meetings.
