I have been using browsercam.com for CSS testing, but it is rather expensive. Recently, I discovered others using funadable.org to purchase a yearly membership as a group. A year long membership at browsercam.com costs $480.00. This gives us 25 user accounts. I am proposing that 25 people throw in $19.20 for their 1/25th share of the membership cost. Once I have raised $479.40 I will purchase the annual membership and setup an account for all the participants. Keep in mind that the daily price for one user is $19.95, which is more than what you will need to pay for a year under this plan. If anyone is interested, the fundable.org group is setup at: https://www.fundable.org/groupactions/groupaction.2005-09-25.9807090106 -- Lon Baker Speedymac LLC http://www.speedymac.com AIM: spdemac

The remote access service looks very cool. But FYI, if all you need are screenshots on different platforms/browsers/resolutions, you can get them for free at http://browsershots.org/ On 9/25/05, Lon Baker <lon-JCsVN+o+Xp98UrSeD/g0lQ@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > I have been using browsercam.com <http://browsercam.com> for CSS testing, > but it is rather > expensive. Fundable barfed on my post-paypal receipt page, but it looks like it registered the contribution. I''m going to contact them about the error page now. _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails

I find the ability to test various browsers on each platform with/ without flash more useful. Browsershots.org doesn''t support the various flavors, IE 4, 5, 5.5 and 6, Netscape 4-6, AOL, etc. As you mentioned the, remote service is interesting also. -- Lon Baker Speedymac LLC http://www.speedymac.com AIM: spdemac

So, I''m interested in joining. However it seems to me that there is a good chance of users ''stepping on each others toes'' while remotely connecting to the test boxes (I know there won''t be a problem with the screenshots). Has anyone thought through methods to fairly allocate access to the test boxes? We are going to assume that their architecture will handles that issue. I for one will be using the preview/crawling feature, which has a queue for submitted jobs, almost entirely. Looks like my payment hit the goal! I look forward to using this service -- and getting rid of the various copies of ancient browsers I keep around! --John
Hey all, For those of you that missed the last BrowserCam Annual Membership purchase, which seemed to fill up in less than 24 hours, I''d like to propose the exact same thing: http://smallr.com/18z To quote Lon Baker: ---------------- I have been using browsercam.com for CSS testing, but it is rather expensive.
