I''ve been doing some informal research recently on OLAP (online analytical processing; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLAP) tools. It strikes me that Rails might well be a good framework to build an interactive front end to these sorts of applications. One of the best-known Open Source OLAP tools is named Mondrian. It is included in both the Bizgres and Pentaho "Business Intelligence" platforms. It uses JPivot (based on JSP) to provide an interactive (spreadsheet-like) front end. I''m wondering what Rails might have to offer in this area, as in allowing faster development of web pages, etc. -r P.S. When I Googled for Rails and Mondrian, the only connection that came up was a Rails-based IDE. -- email: rdm-go8te9J4rpw@public.gmane.org; phone: +1 650-873-7841 http://www.cfcl.com - Canta Forda Computer Laboratory http://www.cfcl.com/Meta - The FreeBSD Browser, Meta Project, etc.
