When it was released, it was mentionned that the book would still be current and complete when 1.0 got out ?>From what I read on the list, a lot of patches have gone in since 0.13... will the book still be up to date ? thanks, jean On 9/15/05, David Heinemeier Hansson <david.heinemeier-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > Just wondering when Rails 1.0 would be released? > > The smarty pants version: When it''s ready. > > The informative version: We''re actually trying very hard to make it > happen currently. well, *when* 1.0 is out, a detailed human-readable changelog comparing current features against features described in the book would be very welcome.. especially (as I remember) the book was intented to describe rails in a very-close-to-1.0 state :) Kristof Jean Helou wrote:> When it was released, it was mentionned that the book would still be > current and complete when 1.0 got out ? > >>From what I read on the list, a lot of patches have gone in since 0.13 > ... will the book still be up to date ? > > thanks, > jean > > On 9/15/05, David Heinemeier Hansson <david.heinemeier-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote: > >>>Just wondering when Rails 1.0 would be released? >> >>The smarty pants version: When it''s ready. >> >>The informative version: We''re actually trying very hard to make it >>happen currently. Everything that works in the book will be working in 1.0. At least that is the holy intention :-) //jarkko> > Kristof > > Jean Helou wrote: > >> When it was released, it was mentionned that the book would still be >> current and complete when 1.0 got out ? >> >>> From what I read on the list, a lot of patches have gone in since >>> 0.13 >>> >> ... will the book still be up to date ? >> thanks, >> jean On 9/15/05, David Heinemeier Hansson >> <david.heinemeier-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote: >> >>>> Just wondering when Rails 1.0 would be released? >>>> >>> >>> The smarty pants version: When it''s ready. >>> >>> The informative version: We''re actually trying very hard to make it >>> happen currently. Which means that even though 0.14/1.0 might introduce new ways to do a few things, the old will still work. So there''s no breaking of backwards compatibility. -- David Heinemeier Hansson http://www.loudthinking.com -- Broadcasting Brain http://www.basecamphq.com -- Online project management http://www.backpackit.com -- Personal information manager http://www.rubyonrails.com -- Web-application framework
