Please excuse this interuption from a poor novice. Thanks for all the great information on the list! It is a valuable resource. Now my question: I have a small application that I want to put a local file link_to on the page. I want to be able to click on the link, and launch word to open the file. I don''t really need to store the file in the DB, I just need the link. For the life of me, I can''t seem to be able to find the correct ''action'' for this link. Any suggestions or pointers? Thanks again. I''m trying to use a SQL server database as a base to try out RoR. And it isn''t going as well as I would have hoped. Is there any way to have a look at what issues are known for working with SQL server databases ? Or has anyone created a document of problems which he / she has faced ? Mischa, I did a little howto sometime back. Its decent, but things may have changed since then. Make sure you read through the whole thing first, since someone noted unixODBC needs to be installed first. Its at http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/show/HowtoConnectToMicrosoftSQLServerFromRailsOnLinux Hope that helps Joe On 9/3/05, Steve Downey <sldowney-TVLZxgkOlNX2fBVCVOL8/A@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > Mischa Kroon wrote: > > > I''m trying to use a SQL server database as a base to try out RoR. > > And it isn''t going as well as I would have hoped. > > > > Is there any way to have a look at what issues are known for working > > with SQL server databases ? > > > > Or has anyone created a document of problems which he / she has faced ? > > > > search this list archive and you''ll see several. > _______________________________________________ > Rails mailing list > Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org > http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails >_______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails
Thanks Joe, But the setup did go as planned. I''m using windows as my dev environment, which makes everything a lot easier. ( from a getting sql server to work point of view at least ) \ I''m running into problems / bugs when actually using sql server.
