I don''t like to spam the mailing list but wanted to announce that I have released the first Beta of the Posted Web Engine. "Posted is a content management system and / or Blogging application whose soul purpose is to bring an application functionality to web based systems. Utilizing organization, thought management, and common sense. The goals have been strictly to keep the over all usability and structure clean and manageable. The concept from the very beginning was to create a strict CSS layout so that only one file would have to be modified in order to change the look and feel of the web site. There are a lot of obvious issues here but for the most part this holds true even from this early stage of development. Posted behaves just like any other CMS/Blogging system. The concept of organizing thoughts and sharing them with the Internet communities. Drafting of articles, Categories for organization, and Comments all have been implemented to facilitate communications between owners and visitors. The categories are what create the navigation for Posted. You can do the obvious content management tasks you would expect, post, edit, draft, and delete articles. Create categories and organize thoughts into the categories. Track comments and modify or delete them. Add users, modify your information, and look at / contact other users of your Posted installation The back-end is where I have been putting most of the real power and feature sets. The idea here was to create the ability to organize and track thought processes. There are many applications that already do this but we don’t always have our computers with us but it’s almost always true that we have access to the Internet. As it stands in the current incarnation, only a journal has been implemented on the back- end for private ideas. There is an ability to “comment” on each entry to help you track your chain of thoughts around a particular subject. The idea here will be to allow multiple users of the back-end to communicate thoughts and ideas as a team." Demo: beta.hybridindie.com Download: rubyforge.org/projects/posted/ As stated above this is an early beta, but is functional and could also be used as a decent and functional tool using Rails. Not everything realizes the goals but they are coming along very quickly. Actually versions should be released weekly during the early development cycles. I will keep everyone up to date, as to not spam the list though. J Brien | HybridIndie Productions | hybridindie.com | iam-QLwuMy0vUAhCl22TKe+ceQ@public.gmane.org
Looking great! For v0.2 it''s quite functional :-) I like the nice ''minimalistic'' design too - everything''s very straightforward and clear. - Ben On 8/23/05, J Brien <iam-QLwuMy0vUAhCl22TKe+ceQ@public.gmane.org> wrote:> I don''t like to spam the mailing list but wanted to announce that I > have released the first Beta of the Posted Web Engine. > > "Posted is a content management system and / or Blogging application > whose soul purpose is to bring an application functionality to web > based systems. thanks, I wanted to be able to give everyone who used Posted the opportunity to really personalize it, and make it their own. On Aug 22, 2005, at 2:29 PM, Ben Myles wrote:> Looking great! Good idea - the minimalistic template is a great starting point to expand from, unlike most other blogs/cms which come stock with a whole heap of off-the-shelf design that first needs to be removed. I really like the philosophy.
