I know I can use .htaccess in Apache to restrict folder access, but is it possible using Webrick to do the same thing? ex: I have a folder under the rails generated public folder called: uploads All the uploads go into here but I don''t want anyone (QA folks) to be able to get at those files from their browser. How do I go about configuring Webrick to restrict this? Thanks in advance. Chad
I don''t know about webrick, but as far as your example goes it seems the best solution to me to store files which are not intended for public view not in the public-folder. I assume that you want to give access to the uploaded files via the rights-management for your rails-app. So you could make a controller which checks the authorization and then sends the file to the user.
