Rails - Jun 2005 - railers

I''m interested in finding out how many people are actually actively 
using rails.
This is not for any particular reason other than curiosity.

Also i wish i could see the growth in users somehow - would be 
interesting to see the impact the rails book might have on rails 
developer numbers.

Are there some stats available on this?

Can i find out how many people are subscribed to this list?

How many downloads for the rails gems?

Dave: could you maybe tell me how many people already bought the rails book.

Obviously none of these will give definitive numbers, but it will give 
at least a ballpark figure.

I ran a couple of informal straw polls on the list a while back (the
last just a week ago). I wrote the first one up here:

collated the results of the second, but if you search the archives you
should see it.
