Rails - Jun 2005 - [railsday] cron jobs and possible alternatives

Hi,

For my entry in railsday, there are a few actions I would like to perform on a 
regular basis.  And since the rules don''t cover things like this, I
thought
I''d ask so I don''t get into trouble accidentally.

Is it possible to cron a something to run on the server?
If not, would it be permitted to write an action in Rails which is
wget''ed
from afar?
If not, is there any method of doing this that would be permitted?
