Yes, its true. This is my opportunity to stare wistfully at sneaker
scufffing the dust as I admit ''I had it all wrong''...
Apparently, in doing Curt''s excellent tutorial at onlamp successfully,
in my excitement I missed some critical points, and have also been
suffering from some braindamaged (mis)understaning of the first rewrite
rule in .htaccess; probably all of my projects would have behaved as I
expected them to had I understood the significance of these key points.
It''s notable that my misunderstandings did not come to light until I
attempted to configure apache to run on ruby rails; I think the
significant thing is that WEBbrick did not seem to need any ruleset
rewrite tweaking to make the project behave as anticipated.
I can tell from the granularity of the recent version number sequence
that the guys who might have set me straight on this at once are busy as
hell. I don''t blame you in the least for leaving me twisting in the
wind
;^P keep up the excellent work :)
As for those several individuals who offered pointers, reference
configs, and URLs to doc and tutorials offlist, you know who you are
and you rock.
Thanks for the tutorial Curt!
P.S., if anyone needs a reference config for port-based vhosts on a
single IP, give me a shout :)
Cheers!
