Rails - Jan 2005 - multiple virutal hosts

So I have three virtaul hosts set up.

weblog, cms, portfolio

on my local machine, everything is great:

http://weblog  --> goes to my blog app
http://cms  --> goes to cms
etc.

however
http://berndtj.staticcling.org (which is a redirect to my ip address),
I always get pointed to weblog (the first site I set up).  I''m pretty
new to all this, so perhaps it''s a dumb question.  How does apache
know where to go when NO hostname is input?  As far as I know typing
http://berndtj.staticcling.org is just pointing to my httpd document
root, which has the three folders weblog, cms, portfolio.  Why does it
always choose weblog?

Not sure what this has to do with Rails, but Apache chooses the first 
virtual host in the config file when no virtual host matches.
