has anyone in this list ever tried to make a javascript color picker something like http://www.daantje.nl/blog/index.php?buttonID=37 or http://typetester.maratz.com/ i just thought i''d ask before i force myself to doing this. thanks mark renn _______________________________________________ Rails-spinoffs mailing list Rails-spinoffs-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails-spinoffs
Hah as it happens I did one this very morning. I can''t open source it yet (although we will be planning to on a free branded / paid non-branded license soon), but I can tell you it''s very easy. The one I implemented was identical to Google Adsense''s colour picker, with fade in/out and a configurable pallete. It took about 30 lines and is 100% DOM. You shouldn''t run in to any problems. -Rob Mark Renn Caluag wrote:> has anyone in this list ever tried to make a javascript color picker > something like http://www.daantje.nl/blog/index.php?buttonID=37 > or http://typetester.maratz.com/ > > i just thought i''d ask before i force myself to doing this. > > thanks > mark renn > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > _______________________________________________ > Rails-spinoffs mailing list > Rails-spinoffs-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org > http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails-spinoffs

I''ve been using http://www.colourmod.com/ for a color picker, but it''s not free.

Great, You should just fix a little issue: - While clicking somewhere the circle is set - While moving circle the color change But while clicking somewhere + drag circle the color didn''t change. If think end user often click and drag in image software. May be it is because the circle is move on mouse up and not on mouse down ? And many thanks for sharing. Works perfectly here with Konqueror 3.5.3, which is usually a good indicator for Safari support. ;) Dragging also feels much smoother than in the yui picker. I''m going to apply #4051. #5338 breaks sliders with multiple handles for me (see the functional slider test, under headline "Slider with multiple handles, external controls, handles are restricted (can''t be moved prior/after adjacent handles)" -- you can''t move the green handle with #5338 applied. -Thomas Am 08.06.2006 um 16:46 schrieb Matthias Platzer:> > hi, > > i fixed the problem with the not clickable slider (it was even > worse: ie > does crash with an endless loop - as long as you move the mouse) > > i had to patch slider.js: > > #5338 http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/5338 > #4051 http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4051 > > could somebody look after these two bugs and give some feedback in the > bug tracker. > > greets > matthias > > > Matthias Platzer schrieb: >> hi, >> >> thanks for the feedback. >> i fixed it and uploaded a new version. >> http://www.knallgrau.at/code/colorpicker/demo >> >> i also fixed a css issue with firefox. >> >> does anybody know, what i have to do that clicking somewhere at the >> slider control moves the slider? >> >> mat >> >> Jean-Philippe Encausse schrieb: >>> Great, >>> You should just fix a little issue: >>> - While clicking somewhere the circle is set >>> - While moving circle the color change >>> >>> But while clicking somewhere + drag circle the color didn''t change. >>> If think end user often click and drag in image software. Hi, i just uploaded a new version of ColorPicker for script.aculo.us It''s called version 0.9 - which means that it''s feature complete. - it depends on bugfix #4051 - i added a input field holding the color value i tested it with win: firefox 1.5, opera 9.5, ie 7, ie 6 mac: safari and it works for me (also in ie6) note to opera: there is a small bug with positioning the circle on clicking into the color area, and the slider - if somebody want''s to look into this and send me a patch i will add it - otherwise the bug is too unimportant and the opera share is too small. please test it: http://www.knallgrau.at/code/colorpicker/ matthias @mark: could you test it again with ie6 - it works for me and i couldn''t reproduce the bug you reported Matthias Platzer schrieb:> Mark Renn Caluag schrieb: >> hi, >> >> nice job matthias, i tried testing this on ie6, unfortunately, the >> pickerbg.png transparency breaks. but works great on all other browsers >> >> damn IE =) > > i tried to fix that blind (not actually testing it on ie6) > filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.... should have done the job, > but it seems it doesn''t work yet -> i will look into this > > @thomas: > thanks! > - i will release a version, that doesn''t depend on nested img > - so fix #2 won''t be needed > > > matthias > >> mark renn >> >> >> >>> On 6/8/06, Matthias Platzer <matthias-jvEZf8eMbRz0+o74n3fu+Q@public.gmane.org> wrote: >>>> >>>> hi, >>>> >>>> i fixed the problem with the not clickable slider (it was even >>> worse: ie >>>> does crash with an endless loop - as long as you move the mouse) >>>> >>>> i had to patch slider.js: >>>> >>>> #5338 http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/5338 >>>> #4051 http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4051 >>>> >>>> could somebody look after these two bugs and give some feedback in the >>>> bug tracker. >>>> >>>> greets >>>> matthias >>>> >>>> >>>> Matthias Platzer schrieb: >>>>> hi, >>>>> >>>>> thanks for the feedback. >>>>> i fixed it and uploaded a new version. >>>>> http://www.knallgrau.at/code/colorpicker/demo >>>>> >>>>> i also fixed a css issue with firefox. >>>>> >>>>> does anybody know, what i have to do that clicking somewhere at the >>>>> slider control moves the slider? >>>>> >>>>> mat >>>>> >>>>> Jean-Philippe Encausse schrieb: >>>>>> Great, >>>>>> You should just fix a little issue: >>>>>> - While clicking somewhere the circle is set >>>>>> - While moving circle the color change >>>>>> >>>>>> But while clicking somewhere + drag circle the color didn''t change. >>>>>> If think end user often click and drag in image software. Hi Dirk, thanks for the report. could you help me debug this / find a solution that works please open the file colorPicker.css and edit the CSS rules for: #colorpicker-value, #colorpicker-value-input { font-size: 9px !important; font-family: Helvetica, Verdana, Sans-Serif; height: 10px; } #colorpicker-value-input { width: 40px; } #colorpicker-value ... is the surrounding span #colorpicker-value-input ... is the input field maybe you have to add padding, or introduce another font. i would like to keep that field as small as possible. hope you can help me with that - matthias Dirk Eschler schrieb:> Am Freitag, 16. Here are two variants that work for me in all the mentioned browsers (i prefer the second variant): 1) #colorpicker-value, #colorpicker-value-input { font-size: 9px !important; font-family: Helvetica, Verdana, Sans-Serif; height: 13px; } #colorpicker-value-input { width: 47px; } 2) #colorpicker-value, #colorpicker-value-input { font-size: 9px !important; font-family: Arial, Sans-Serif; height: 12px; } #colorpicker-value-input { width: 44px; } -- Dirk Eschler <mailto:dirk.eschler-hi6Y0CQ0nG0@public.gmane.org> http://www.krusader.org
