Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics and Metabolism (PDM).

Responsibilities
The statistician will have a consulting-type role supporting a large pool
of scientists in two large platform line groups.
Typical projects include: assay characterization studies, the analysis of
high content screening data, data analysis of chemical structures and
properties, image analysis of assay results, the analysis of assay
screening data, etc.
The statistician will have to demonstrate leadership in influencing and
improving drug discovery by identifying, developing, and applying new
quantitative methods.
Participate in the group?s education initiative by teaching internal
courses on statistical subjects to the clients.
Qualifications
Minimum:
? M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics
? A minimum of two years statistical consulting experience in applying
statistics to biological or chemical systems, preferably in a laboratory
science environment.
? The ability to proactively seek collaborations with scientists and lab
heads.
? Awareness of the process of discovery and development of new medicines
and be motivated by opportunity to have an impact in this area.
? Strong initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication (written
and verbal) skills
? Experience working with biological or chemical assay systems.
? The ability to travel within the region
Preferred candidates will have:
? Five or more years experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Technical Skills:
Minimum:
? Understanding of inference and probability; competence in contemporary
linear modeling including mixed models, particularly longitudinal models;
nonlinear regression; and predictive modeling (e.g. random forests,
support vector machines).
? Solid understanding of experimental design
? An understanding of tools for the analysis of high dimensional data
? Capable computational skills in R, S-plus or SAS
Preferred candidates will have:
? Sound understanding and experience of applying Bayesian methods
? Formal training in, or thorough understanding of: human physiology,
cell biology, pharmacokinetics and/or pharmaceutical chemistry.
? Additional computing skills in scripting languages, such as perl,
python, unix shell scripts or others.
? Biological knowledge including more than superficial understanding of
cell and molecular biology and genetics
