R SIG Debian - Feb 2019 - Fwd: Running R from terminal in ubuntu 16.04 gives Fatal Error message

I removed my r-base package and installed it through the guide in Cran
mirror but I am still getting the same error. Here is the output to the

That looks fine and legit (assuming iu.edu is indeed a network-close mirror
to you, and in good shape).

What do

   which R                # or 'type -p R' if which fails for some
reason
   R --version

say ?
