Here is how to get the indices of the non-zero values. You can
determine how you want to print them
> x <- rbind(c(1,0), c(0,3))
> # get indices of non-zero
> which(x != 0, arr.ind=TRUE)
row col
[1,] 1 1
[2,] 2 2
possible ways of printing:
> x.1[x.1 == 0] <- NA
> x.1
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 1 NA
[2,] NA 3> print(x.1, na.print='.')
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 1 .
[2,] . 3
