sometimes I get the following error message with the editor command <fix>: Error in edit.default(get(subx, envir = parent), ...) : cannot write tempfile what happens? Similarly, after a syntax error I get the message Error in edit(name, file, editor) : An error occurred on line 3 use a command like x <- edit() and now the command x<-edit() opens an empty window.
