If one starts R with the command R -q then it starts quietly, without giving its introductory message. Is there any way that this behaviour can be arranged, say by placing an appropriate line in ~/.Renviron or ~/.Rprofile? (So that it happens consistently and I don't have to remember to type that -q.) I know I can alias R to "R -q" but I dislike doing that; strikes me as dangerous. cheers, Rolf Turner rolf at math.unb.ca -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
