I am trying to download R.1.3 for Windows , and I have troubles with some of the .zip files. I am working with a laptop operating on Windows 98 and use Netscape 4.5 as a browser. I have downloaded without problems the following files: rw1030b1.zip rw1030ch.zip rw1030d1.zip rw1030d2.zip rw1030sp.zip rw1030w.zip but when I try to download rw1030b2.zip rw1030h.zip rw1030l.zip the download gets to some, variable percentage (usually around 95%) and then stops, without any error warning, and without saving anything on my hard disc. I would like to add that I have never had problems with dowloading with Netscape 4.5 on my laptop, neither with previous versions of R nor with other files. Besides, I don't have problems now with files other that those mentioned. So I suspect it is a problem with the file, not with my computer. Do you have any clou for me? I have no trouble accessing those files from here. However, are you sure you wouldn't rather just get SetupR.exe from the parent directory? -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard Blegdamsvej 3 c/ /'_ --- Dept. of Biostatistics 2200 Cph. You don't even tell us where you are downloading from! The files are correct on the Vienna node, but could be broken on a mirror. You are on JANET, so behind a cache. Make sure you get the cache flushed, as I suspect that there are incomplete copies in the cache (and someone, maybe even you, terminated a download prematurely). The recommended download is SetupR.exe: you will need to get a lot more pieces for a complete installation than those zip files (for example the recommended packages). You would do better to talk to your local sysadmins than ask R-help, as they will know about the local conditions. [R] R binaries for IRIX, solaris 2.6, 7 and 8 and installating them anywhere
Hi, I'm looking for the latest R binaries for IRIX and Solaris platforms. The SGI freeware site has a very old R binary available which is no good, and there's nothing on the Solaris freeware site. We've developed a Java application that uses R and since we do not have access to all the platforms for which a Java VM exists, part of our installation procedure involves the configuration and compilation of the R source code (which in itself involves installing gcc). Unfortunately, for various reasons we have been unable to get copies of compiled code from our clients. Can anyone help me here? I've also been investigating the issues involved in taking a configured and compiled R distribution and assumming that it's not necessarily going to be installed in the default or --prefix-specified installation directory. I found that for Linux and AIX, I could restrict a shipping R to just the lib/R/ directory and as long as the R_HOME environment variable is set (R is called from a Perl script), then it works. I ensured that no previously installed R distribution was being accessed. Will this strategy work for every UNIX platform? My goal is to have the lib directory inside our Java application directory (which can be installed anywhere). Cheers, Peter -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
