R help - Jul 1999 - 3D scatter plot

Hi,
I'd like to know if is it possible to make a 3D scatter plot (x y z) using
R.
In the on-line help and in the help mailing list I found only ways in which
plot surfaces.

Not directly.  You can do this and much more with XGobi, connecting it to
R with the xgobi package on CRAN. If you are working under Windows you
need an X server and Brian Ripley's Windows port 
(http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Swin) of XGobi.
