Has anyone successfully installed ESS on Win95? I have emacs version 19.34.6 and R version 0.63.3. The ESS README and Makefiles seem pretty Unix-specific. -- Terry J. There is support for rw0633 in ESS 5.1.3 and later, but I find 5.0 also works: you just need to set --ess rather than --no-readline. This is actually in the readme and in rw-FAQ. I think ESS Qs will get a better response from the ess list: Tony Rossini will I am sure tell you more, including where to get help. I am no ESS expert, but I was the one who add ESS support to R for Windows. -- Brian D. In general, I believe you need NT Emacs 20.3 or higher for decent interprocess communication (as opposed to editing). In the more recent versions of ESS, look in the doc/ subdirectory for information on how to deal with Microsoft "operating systems". As stated in the documentation, please send questions about ESS to ess-help at stat.math.ethz.ch where they will tend to get more complete answers. best, -tony -- A.J.
