[Rd] par(new=T) works differently in pdf vs postscript if applied before a plot statement. (PR#4037)
If I place par(new=T) before I create a plot in a script that is sent to a pdf device, the pdf is unopenable and reports itself as having no pages. The postscript device seems to ignore the par instruction. I guess one of these is a bug, but I don't know which one! --please do not edit the information below-- Version: platform = i386-pc-linux-gnu arch = i386 os = linux-gnu system = i386, linux-gnu status = major = 1 minor = 7.1 year = 2003 month = 06 day = 16 language = R Search Path: .GlobalEnv, package:grid, package:lattice, package:tools, package:methods, package:ctest, package:mva, package:modreg, package:nls, package:ts, Autoloads, package:base -- Andrew Robinson Ph: 208 885 7115 Department of Forest Resources Fa: 208 885 6226 University of Idaho E : andrewr@uidaho.edu PO Box 441133 W : http://www.uidaho.edu/~andrewr Moscow ID 83843 Or: http://www.biometrics.uidaho.edu No statement above necessarily represents my employer's opinion.

Please give us an example of what you mean (as the FAQ asks). Exactly what order are you doing things in? You can't send scripts to graphics devices, and you should not be calling par(new=TRUE) without a plot already done. So it would appear to be user error, and it may well just be different error handling in the two devices. If I have guessedanything like right ....
