[Rd] Gnits about setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH from R (PR#1166)
Full_Name: Dirk Eddelbuettel Version: 1.3.1 OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (65.184.214.9) [ This bug report has previously been filed as #71917 in the Debian Bug Tracking System. --edd ] From: "Stephen J. Turnbull" <turnbull@sk.tsukuba.ac.jp> Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2000 19:48:11 +0900 (JST) To: submit@bugs.debian.org Subject: r-base gnits Package: r-base Version: 1.1.1-1 [1] The R startup script sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH to start with /usr/local/lib/. I have installed a development version of glibc 2.2 there; needless to say R was not pleased with the little switcheroo between /lib/ld-linux.so.2 and /usr/local/lib/libc.so.6. I don't see any need for this. If dl modules are being downloaded from CRAN, they should go in /usr/local/lib/R/ or something like that, not in /usr/local/lib. Of course if they're Debianized, they shouldn't be put in /usr/local at all. [2] I don't have Netscape, I'm using Mozilla and Lynx mostly. Something like xfig-www-browser(1) should be used to try and come up with a sensible guess at a help browser. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
