No, it's fine, it's there, it's just that
somewhere on the Wisconsin network ping requests are "filtered":
(From a Linux machine):
lynne{maechler}438> ping rsync.r-project.org
PING franz.stat.wisc.edu (128.105.174.95) from 129.132.58.30 : 56(84) bytes of
data.
From 144.92.128.166: Packet filtered
From 144.92.128.166: Packet filtered
and traceroute subsequently reveals
....
17 r-peer-WNMadison-gw.net.wisc.edu (216.56.1.18) 133.563 ms ...
18 r-macc.net.wisc.edu (144.92.128.129) 121.881 ms ...
19 144.92.128.166 (144.92.128.166) 124.458 ms ...
20 e2-1.foundry1.cs.wisc.edu (128.105.4.246) 124.151 ms ...
21 franz.stat.wisc.edu (128.105.174.95) 124.922 ms ...
ie. "rsync.r-project.org" is there (it's franz..)
