Access to cran.us.r-project.org
I am the maintainer of one of the CRAN mirrors in the U.S.,
cran.us.r-project.org. It appears that this site has been
inaccessible since Friday.
This has me puzzled because I can connect to the same machine through
ssh and I can see that the http daemon (apache) is running. In fact I
can make an http connection from this machine to this machine and from
other machines on any of our subnets to

Disk failure chokes all the disks attached to the failing disk HBA
Dear All,
It may be this not the correct mailing list, but I''m having a ZFS issue
when a disk is failing.
The system is a supermicro motherboard X8DTH-6F in a 4U chassis
(SC847E1-R1400LPB) and an external SAS2 JBOD (SC847E16-RJBOD1).
It makes a system with a total of 4 backplanes (2x SAS + 2x SAS2) each
of them connected to a 4 different HBA (2x LSI 3081E-R (1068 chip) + 2x

allow-query.
Hi,
I am using nsd as my authority-only dns servers and find it fast,
stable, reliable - all of the design goals you set out for, great.
I have a zone that is intended only to be visible to people on my
network. In bind I would enforce this with an 'allow-query'
configuration directive.
I checked the latest 'nsd-for-bind-users' document, and 'allow-query'
is not

multiple paired t-tests without loops
I am new to R and I suspect my problem is easily solved, but I haven't
been able to figure it out without using loops. I am trying to
implement Blair & Karniski's (1993) permutation test. I've included a
sample data frame below. This data frame represents the conditional
means (C1, C2) for 3 subjects in 2 consecutive samples of a continuous
data set (e.g. ERP waveform).

migration - quitting on error..
i am not sure if this is something new, or something i have not noticed
before, but here''s the scoop..
i use textmate for development, and sometimes, i forget, and leave some
of the textmate text in my file..
for example, i will leave "macc" after the last column insert.. just
because i forget to remove it..
when i run a migration, it chokes on the nonsensical text..

plot.dendrogram and expressions
Hi,
currently the "label" and "edgetext" attributes of a dendrogram are
coerced to character before they are added to a plot with `text'. Is there
a specific reason to do so (expect for the determination of the size of
the character string to be plotted)? Otherwise one could plot the
attributes directly via
diff dendrogram.R /usr/src/R/src/library/stats/R/dendrogram.R

vectors / matrices
Hi,
a friend of mine came across this
R> x <- 1:5
R> cbind(x,x)
x x
[1,] 1 1
[2,] 2 2
[3,] 3 3
[4,] 4 4
[5,] 5 5
R> rbind(x,x)
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5]
x 1 2 3 4 5
x 1 2 3 4 5
x is a vector and therefore has no dim-attribute. Obviously cbind treats x
as a col-vector but rbind treats x as a row-vector, that is: two
functions have a different

Windows 2003 Active Directory and Group Access
Hi together,
we have a Windows 2003 Active Directory Server, working together with Samba Version 3.0.2a-Debian. It seems
everything (Kerberos authentication and so on) works fine. All the authentication is done by the windows 2003
server. My problem is, that I can't connect to a share via a windows xp client, when the share has an option
"valid user" which defines a group of the

APC Back-UPS BX1400U
Dear list,
since some days I own an APC Back-UPS BX1400U.
Now I try to connect my Raspberry Pi to it using NUT, but ... ;)
The UPS is connected via an USB-cable, and "lsusb" shows an APC device.
NUT is installed via "sudo apt-get install nut".
My goal: a Synology DiskStation DS1515+ should "read" UPS-data provided
from the Raspberry an shut-down itselt at 30%

`var' broken in 1.8.0 alpha (2003-09-15)
Hi,
in last nights alpha version, `var' is broken:
R> var(rnorm(100))
Error in var(rnorm(100)) : 3 arguments passed to "cov" which requires 4.
which I suspect is due to recent changes to `cov'. The same is true for
R> cov(rnorm(100), rnorm(100))
Error in cov(rnorm(100), rnorm(100)) : 3 arguments passed to "cov" which
requires 4.

unable to upload printer driver
Hi Achim,
thank you for your effort!
I did a couple of tests, from W8.1 with x64 driver which where rather old and therefore disignated for W7x64. But this went stale as well.
Therefore I'll give it a try by using a W7-WS for uploading the drivers.

Random factor ANOVA, Repeated measures ANOVA, Within subjects designs.
Hi,
we are just about to evaluate R as a standard statistics package for
our institute. We looked around the help - manual, the FAQ, etc. and
did not find anything for the topics of random factors in ANOVA,
repeated measures in ANOVA, or within subjects designs in R.
Could anyone point us to any information concerning
- univariate approach to repeated measures anova
- multivariate

Automatic provider API loader for mapstraction?
Hi,
today I gave a talk at Barcamp Vienna (
http://www.barcamp.at/BarCamp_Vienna_Juni_2009) about Mapstraction and its
recent progress.
The crowd was really impressed! In the follow-up discussion several people
were asking why mapstraction itself can''t take care of loading the provider
APIs.
I''m not sure if anybody is working on this, but such an automatic api loader
has quite

F90 in packages
Hi,
did anybody manage to compile F90 sources in an R-package? The major
problem is, at least in my opinion, that non of the "free" F90 -> F77
converters is working correctly, at least for the F90 sources
I need to compile.
