[Puppet Users] Trying to install the Dashboard on Ubuntu 14
Hi. I've been following the instructions on the puppetlabs website but can't get the Dashboard going. I can connect to the main port 8140 page and get: *The environment must be purely alphanumeric, not ''* So, it's installed and working. However, I cannot connect to the port 443 dashboard as it wasn't installed as a VirtualHost by default. *SSL connection error* root@puppet:/usr/share/puppet# dpkg -i /root/puppetlabs-release-trusty.deb (Reading database ... 49655 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to unpack .../puppetlabs-release-trusty.deb ... Unpacking puppetlabs-release (1.0-1) over (1.0-1) ... Setting up puppetlabs-release (1.0-1) ... root@puppet:/usr/share/puppet# apt-get install puppet-dashboard Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package puppet-dashboard I also performed an *apt-get update* without any luck. root@puppet:/usr/share/puppet# apt-get install -y build-essential irb libmysqlclient-dev libopenssl-ruby mysql-server rake rdoc ri ruby ruby-dev ruby-mysql Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Note, selecting 'ruby' instead of 'irb' Note, selecting 'ruby' instead of 'rdoc' Package libopenssl-ruby is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'libopenssl-ruby' has no installation candidate I have the Universe source installed for my platform but having a lot of trouble. Are the instructions on the Puppetlabs website out of date? root@puppet:/usr/share/puppetmaster-passenger# ls apache2.site.conf.tmpl This file only has the config VirtualHost for the port 8140 application. root@puppet:/usr/share/puppetmaster-passenger# ls /usr/share/puppet/ext/ autotest debian envpuppet.bat nagios puppet-nm-dispatcher rack systemd yaml_nodes.rb cert_inspector emacs ldap puppetlisten puppet-test README.environment upload_facts.rb dbfix.sql envpuppet logcheck puppet-load.rb pure_ruby_dsl regexp_nodes vim Do I have to install the Dashboard from tarball now? Which version? TIA. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group.
